Use MCILS After Your Name

Chartered Members are entitled to use the post-nominal letters MCILS — signifying demonstrated expertise and professional standing in the Lean Six Sigma discipline.

Eligibility Criteria

Chartered Membership is awarded to experienced practitioners who meet these rigorous standards.

A

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification or Lean Leader Certification (max 160 CPD pts)

OR Evidence of completion of a related Master's Degree where at least 160 hours of Lean Six Sigma coursework were covered (max 160 CPD pts)

B

Evidence of completion of a Master's Degree or Equivalent (max 30 CPD pts)

C

Post-qualifying experience in a related field practising Lean Six Sigma – minimum 3 years (max 15 CPD pts)

OR Work experience in a single or multiple roles practising Lean Six Sigma for 8 or more years (max 20 CPD pts)

Evidence of two completed Black Belt projects (mandatory — project storyboards required for items A1 and A2)

Minimum 200 CPD units total across all categories

Items within the same group (A or C) are alternatives — you must satisfy at least one from each group.

CPD Requirements

Chartered Membership applicants must provide evidence for a minimum of 200 CPD units. You must include item 1 or 2 (Group A), item 3 (Group B), and item 4 or 5 (Group C). Items 6–10 are optional additional CPD.
